Micoy Releases Software Technology Licensing May 21, 2008 |
"The most astounding thing you've ever experienced . . . imagine a 3D movie that completely surrounds you!"
Micoy Corporation of Ames, Iowa, announced today the release for licensing of its revolutionary new Hologramic 3D rendering software that allows anyone to produce true omni-directional 3D experiences.
After years of development and winning the Gold Award for its breakthrough technology at the "World's Best Technology" Conference, Micoy is now offering their patented omni-directional 3D image format as a three-dimensional rendering software tool to various markets. "This will allow any studio or research group to create 360 degree volumetric experiences," said Don Pierce, President of Micoy.
Micoy 3D creates a true three-dimensional environment around the viewer, similar to the 'holodeck' technology of Star Trek fame or the immersive visualizations of The Matrix film series. This new 3D image format can
be displayed by any traditional 3D projection or display system. However, optimal viewing is achieved in dome/planetarium style theaters, head-mounted display systems, or other fully immersive display devices.
Producer Doug Yellin of Matilda Production Services (whose 3D projects include "U23D" and "Star Trek - Borg Encounter") has stated, "Micoy is the key to unlocking the next generation of immersive experiences!"
The applications of Hologramic 3D experiences are bound only by one's imagination. Micoy 3D gives the producer a full 3D world to work in, allowing them to literally be inside their animation. The impact of this new 3D canvas will allow for any market, from entertainment to architecture to training applications, to create totally new experiences in full omni-directional 3D.
Micoy 3D can be adapted for current passive or active stereo displays in any form factor. And by using an anaglyph conversion program, Micoy 3D can be viewed with traditional red/blue 3D glasses on a standard computer monitor or projection system using viewer-controlled pan-scan action.
Micoy is now offering licenses for their rendering software tool set, available for single workstations or multiple workstation sites. It is currently available for use with Mental Ray® 3D rendering software for Autodesk 3ds Max® and Maya®.
